One of the

saddest things

Wild Woman

has ever seen

is a roomful of geriatrics,

singing "Happy Birthday"

to a thirty year old

young man,

curly-haired and handsome,

suffering from MS,

and living among

the elderly,

in a nursing home.

He died soon after,

from choking to death

in his sleep.

Many years later,

Wild Woman

still

remembers him,

her cheery

(and thoughtless)

"How's it going?"

and his wry smile,

as he replied,

"It could

get worse."
