Winter Storm

Last night
on the news,
they showed
our beach,
roiling
in winter storm.

How we loved
going to
the wildest shore
we could find,
in winter:
Combers,
or South Beach.

We'd trek
joyously
for miles,
salt spray
in our faces,
ears full
of wind
and
the mighty
sound
of the sea.

Last night,
I longed so
to be there,
with you,
once again,
one more time
to watch you
loping along
the beach
with your loopy grin,
and your eyes
on fire,
tongue out,
splashing
in and out
of the waves,
in total
joy.

In my dreams,
that's where
we are,
still,
heart in heart,
paw in hand,
two wild creatures,
hearts
full of joy
and
the pounding
pulse
of the sea.

  1. Sherry,
The wonderful natural beauty, is lacking something for you, without Pup.
Thinking of your ongoing 'journey' without your dearly loved friend.
    Best wishes, Eileen

  2. This is heartbreaking, yet I feel some
    serenity from it also, Sherry.
    Beautifully expressed.

  3. So touching, Sherry. I am glad you have such memories of Pup, so sad still about his loss. May he be with you in every dream.
