To rekindle hope,
to regain optimism,
come sit
on my porch swing
and listen
for five minutes
to the joyous
small songbirds
of the
season.
They are
singing
their hearts out,
because
the earth
has warmed
and turned,
and spring
has come again.
They live
in the now.
They are busily
building
their nests
as if there
will always
be a
safe branch
beneath them.
They are
laying
their eggs
as if
there will
always be
a tomorrow.
They remind us
that we
must save
this imploding planet
so they
- and we -
may continue to live,
continue to hear
the beautiful
songbirds
of spring.
I love the title of this Sherry. May we always remember that everything is swinging in the balance and that it is up to us to maintain that balance cooperatively.
ReplyDeleteloving and agreed the title it Splendid... spring is here and it is pouring in Northern Cal...all the birds here are undercover today and the the porch swing has to be tied down....but there will be a tomorrow as the birdie believes so do I....blessings...bkm
ReplyDeleteBrilliant - and oh so true!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, and indeed, there is nothing as effective as nature for soothing the soul and calming shattered nerves. Love the title!
