[John Wagner is the creator of Hallmark's Maxine]
Wild Woman
is so tired
she feels like
an inanimate
object.
She needs
to move,
but her body
won't go.
She needs to pack,
but her hands
are two clay bowls,
too heavy
for scooping.
She needs
inspiration,
but her brain
has
retired
for the evening.
What to do
with this
large
unwieldy
unwilling
and
cumbersome
Lump?
Stick her
in a corner
and pray
she comes to
by morning.
Uh-oh... is this one autobiographical, Sherry? (LOL!)
ReplyDeleteLove the perspective for the prompt, we becoming inanimate objects to life's exhaustion. Great write ~ Rose
ReplyDeleteso vivid, Sherry!
ReplyDeleteI love this and so relate!
ReplyDeleteI so identify with this, Sherry! Now that we're back to rain and cold, I'm not only a lump, but a dull and sodden one. Hope your sun comes out soon...:)
ReplyDeleteLol- Cute...I've felt like that many times!
ReplyDeleteIt can't be good when one becomes an inanimate object, but we've all been there. Some more than others.
ReplyDelete;-) That's great! lol
ReplyDelete(I am sending an energy burst full of love and good vibes your way! x)
I second that, sending positive energy in your direction, just breathe in and exhale slowly. And really really like what you chose to do with the prompt.

Oh, my...you sound like those Maxine cards! Well Done...smart n' sassy!~ xXx
ReplyDeleteAll too familiar - clever response - hope the inanimate object got a good sleep!
ReplyDeletePlease re-animate yourself!
ReplyDeleteWild woman has already come around with a creative poem such as this. The idea of comparing your state of being with an inanimate object is cool!
ReplyDeleteDear Sherry,
ReplyDeleteI am sorry you have reached that 'inanimate' point, but I can understand it too!
I hope it will not be too long, before you get to savour the taste of relaxation and restful hours and days.
Have a good weekend,
Eileen :)
Rinkly Rhymes, sorry, I dont have the technology, hee hee! Just kidding though, the next morning always dawns and somehow Wild Woman manages to put her feet over the side of the bed and Begin Again:)
ReplyDelete"Her hands are two clay bowls..."
ReplyDeleteThat is great!
Brilliant, simply brilliant! And a different take on the inanimate object prompt! Love it!
