Wild Woman on Borrowed Time

Wild Woman spent years
walking down a street
and falling in a hole.
The same street.
The same hole.

Then came the middle years
when, mercifully, she stopped falling
long enough to look around
and enjoy the scenery.

Now she walks with a cane,
slowly, tap tap tapping
like the beat of a little tomtom,
or a heart on borrowed time,
looking up,
seeing all the beauty that ever was,
and ever will be,
and smiling.

Day Two at Toads: Taking It to the Streets.

The prompt is to write a poem one could use as street art. But this month, Wild Woman is dictating. I don't argue, I just write down what she says. That's the rules. LOL.

  1. It is good to be at the stage of looking up, Sherry.

  2. Does Wild Woman know Harvey? Just asking. Over time, hopefully we find a better road and a better life, one without so many all too familiar holes, though new and exciting ones tend to appear underfoot all the same, don't they? Keep on truckin'.

Glad to see you my rolemodel with a cane traversing the future roads successfully :D

  8. We dont know why some of us have to negotiate more holes in the road than others. However I do know you a little from reading you for many years and I would say it is possible that you enjoy what life offers you more than the majority of people. Most would give their eye teeth to have it but unfortunately one cant buy it or learn it no matter how many well being courses one does....yep you've won, so have a good cackle and when you get home have a little dance with Bill Withers. Take care Sherry !
