Sometimes a Feather Will Drop From the Sky

On the edge of drifting into dream,
at 2 a.m., Wild Woman heard a voice
and woke back up:

Sometimes a pathway,
a direction, is shown.
Listen to the animals;
they will show the way.
Even the green growing things
are speaking.

Sometimes a feather
will drop from the sky.
Treat it with honour
and it will lend you
its wings.

  1. Sherry, I love this one and sometimes a feather does drop from the sky. I had a hawk visit me once and as he flew away he left me a calling card. A beautiful feather. I was indeed honored to have been gifted one of his feathers.

  3. Once I was walking with friends, telling them I wanted an eagle feather. "But you cant just GET an eagle feather," I said. "The universe sends you one when you are worthy." At that moment, we looked ahead and I saw, lying on the road in front of me, a beautiful eagle feather. "I believe this is for me," I said, picking it up. They looked at me in awe. "We believe it is too" they said. Smiles.

  5. This poem is an tremendously uplifting and completely inspired "whispering" from the "wild woman's" fount of intuitive knowledge.

We can chase and dream, desperately wish, but sometimes we just must let it all go, and wait - because the signs will arrive, often very quietly, IF we're truly paying attention.

It's all fine and well to moan (rightfully so) and groan and scream - about the horrors, the destruction etc. - but the more we focus our time and energy on this, the more it closes us off from the messages we need to hear. So yes, to use the overly used, cliché, we must find our own balance - and learn to listen more, to celebrate and note, what is we LOVE and consider miraculous in this world. Often, the answers we most desperately need are waiting for us in the wings .... if we're ready to receive. And we can't be receptive if our hearts are so mired in the darkness.

Be well and safe my friend - and thank you for sharing this lovely reminder of where peace, beauty, truth and answers rest.

  6. You have to know that I love this. Feathers are a symbol of truth. And yes, they come unbidden into our lives and give us direction we might not otherwise see.

  7. Lovely. Occasionally I have come upon a feather (dropped from the sky) and yes … there is something akin to mystical about that 'find'.
