Love Water Day

This is my eco-warrior heroine, Ta'Kaiya Blaney of the Sliammon Band, a singer and environmental activist since she was ten. This girl is an inspiration. Today is love Water Day. We take it for granted in the northern hemisphere. But, even here, water is becoming finite, especially in the southern USA.

"Aquifers provide us freshwater that makes up for surface water lost from drought-depleted lakes, rivers, and reservoirs. We are drawing down these hidden, mostly nonrenewable groundwater supplies at unsustainable rates in the western United States and in several dry regions globally, threatening our future."
Dennis Dimik, National Geographic

Take a moment today to reflect upon the living gift of water, to thank it, to promise to never waste it.

  1. Dear Sherry,

I have not been so captivated and inspired by such a presentation honouring the water of our earth!

Ta'Kaiya Blaney's tribute to H2O is a touching, heartfelt presentation of vital information, as vital as this life source is to all living things. Her prayer is one of hope, but highlighted by action, and her poetic plea to take a stand and make a difference, so that our 'world wide well' does not deplete and disappear, is both compassionately convincing and powerful.

Thank you for this introduction to a special soul, and to Love Water Day, and let us drink to life's most precious elixir.

    Cheers my friend! Happy Sunday!

  2. I think blogger just ate my comment ~ I hope this isn't a duplicate.

I live in Arizona and we've been in drought conditions for over a decade. Unfortunately, the state has not implemented any water conservation measures like they did in the 1970's.

It's difficult to believe in this day and age that millions of people around the world do not have access to clean, safe drinking water.

Thank you for this post, Sherry! I was not aware that it is Love Water Day.

Ta'Kaiya Blaney is truly an inspiration!
