"weird animals" from net.newsment.com
When the going gets weird,
the weird turn pro,
my Sis told me,
with pride
and sisterhood,
acknowledging
my excellence
at weirdness.
Weird has always
felt familiar.
Weird comes with
its own
built-in laughter.
Weird makes
the ordinary
stretch its wings
and try a little harder.
Weird puts a shine on
and does a little tap-dance
just to entertain you.
Weird turns a world of
Anybodies
into
Somebody Specials
with their
amazing,
totally unbelievable
stories.
If Weird could speak,
it would tell you:
Come sit by me,
sweetheart,
and let me tell you
a few good tales.

Aye-aye, to weird!
ReplyDeleteAh Sherry--this is so much fun and so very true! I am all for the weird!!
ReplyDeleteEvery family has someone weird - if you don't know who it is, it's probably you. :-)
ReplyDeleteI console myself with the irrefutable fact that, if everyone was like me, I'd be normal.
ReplyDeleteThere's nothing like NOT fitting in with the rest...and being unique and weird ...love it ;)
ReplyDeleteAnother of our many commonalities, my sister and friend. When I was younger the weirdness was an inner sadness for not fitting in. Now its what I flaunt and keeps me laughing. Thanks for reminding me, oh wonderful weird one,
ReplyDeleteElizabeth

That is certainly one funny-looking little animal for sure, Sherry.
ReplyDeleteWith love and hugs for you and yours at Christmas,
K
ah yes... Weird has much to teach us:-)
ReplyDeleteAnd ode to weird... and wonderful. Aren't you glad the drummer we hear is a bit different? I Am!
ReplyDeleteSherry, I enjoyed this....and GET IT. Weird is just another word for individuality. Nothing wrong with that! Smiles.
ReplyDeleteMy high school credo was "Be weird, it's easier." I suspect that credo never let go. This is such a upbeat good spirited poem.
ReplyDeleteThis made me laugh. Weird ...well, I know a lot about weird. LOL Love the weird animal that goes so well with this poem.
ReplyDeleteLove this - I can of course relate. You put the right spin on it... the positively delightful state of fun. Hope the Genome people don't find a "weird gene" and try to "breed" it out of us... Love, Amy
ReplyDeleteWeirdly wonderful! Hope your Christmas is as weird. :)
ReplyDeleteWeirdness can add a much-needed test to the ordinary...and weirdness can natural, or skill-based...
ReplyDeleteI liked this too - Happy Christmas.
ReplyDeleteweirdness is too oft under valued - Merry Christmas!
ReplyDeleteBeing weird is being noticed. One can be surprised over what weirdness can offer - it's stimulating and rich! Nicely Sherry
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas and Happy Holidays to you Ma'am!
Hank
And weird is equally wonderful the second time around! Thank you. :)
ReplyDeleteMy friend I so relate to this! Wishing you a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. I treasure our friendship.
ReplyDeleteSo true so true, good to be a little weird... I know :)
ReplyDeleteYes, indeed! I'm one of the weird and I am proud!

ReplyDeletethe ordinary
