Thirty mourning doves
have come to live
in my yard.
Their soft coos
serenade
all my remembering
of years gone past.
Their song
is telling me
the sands of time
are hastening
swiftly
through the hourglass.
Time to
make each day
count.
I love mourning doves.
ReplyDeleteJust beautiful in both the literal and figurative sense.
ReplyDeleteI haven't heard a mourning dove in a while. I used to like hearing their cry, but I think 30 would be a bit much. Yes, one must make each day count.
ReplyDeleteI like their call as well. Although ever since our intern at the nature center referred to them as "country pigeons," they don't seem quite as lovely as they once did!
ReplyDeleteI love doves too. Their call is so soothing, and make them the perfect symbol of peace.
ReplyDeleteA wonderful message, beautifully delivered.
ReplyDeleteYes, savor every moment. Keep cooing you!
ReplyDeleteI love the sentiment here.
