Sometimes The Feelings Go Too Deep

Sometimes the feelings go too deep
to find the words.

You were so much mine
for so long,
that your withdrawal
is like the skin
parting from my bones,
the song
parting from my heart,
the blue
fading from my sky.

How does one say
come back,
when the leaving is internal,
but the distance like
another galaxy,
a place where another language
is being spoken,
and I have
no translator?

Sometimes the feelings go too deep
to find the words.

for Marian's prompt at Real Toads: So Much Mine, (the song by Jonatha Brooke and Jennifer Kimball, mothers and daughters, the 80's, whatever the song inspires.

  3. The repeated line really hits home the second time, Sherry. Really well said.

  4. Ah yes, loss is maybe the worst thing about life, and words fall too short to express that.

  5. I hear you on this, Sherry. It really is sad when one senses one can do nothing about it...yes, sometimes the feelings DO go too deep to find the words.......

  6. A very sad poem, Sherry. I almost tear reading it.
A sad thing is that this is really how it is and there is nothing the person who was left can do. Well, one thing, try to do something to fix it. But most times that doesn't work.

I'm pretty well over mine now. Three years later I remarried and now we've been together for forty-two years now. But I still have stifled sobs sometimes when I breath in.

Forgive me if I misunderstood. The picture shows a daughter looking for someone to return. But

  7. if the girl was the loss things might be different. The loss might be her going away, to college or job which are to be expected, to running away or even death. The later may never be reckoned with.

  8. How does one say
    come back,
    when the leaving is internal,
    but the distance like
another galaxy....I feel this.... I remember when my girls were teens and it felt like they had traveled to another world that had no place for me.

  10. Perhaps love and time can heal part of the wound. Take care, Sherry.

  12. yes they do...and sometimes we have to sit in them a while as well...all the better though if we have one willing to sit in them with us...

  13. This is so mournful. It's so hard to let go but love often demands it. Sometimes, there's little choice but to love yourself. This brings healing.
    Take care Sherry.

  14. You have this gift to distill the most potent feelings and put them into words.
