Today, November 4, is the annual Blogblast for Peace, begun in 2006 by Mimi Lenox at Mimi Writes . This year 152 countries (so far) are taking part. This peace movement has grown exponentially, from year to year, demonstrating that people all over the world are united in longing for peace. May it come in our lifetime, so our children and grandchildren can live their lives in a more peaceful world.
Please visit Blogblast for Peace, (we're on Facebook, too), to see all of the beautiful peace globes from around the world, with their wishes for peace on this turbulent planet. Join us!! We need your voice!
Prayer for Morning (Mourning?)
What Our Hearts Want:
for the global consciousness
to rise across the face
of this beautiful and
perilous planet.
Everyone: Rise Up
and say
We want
the War Machine
to stop
and
the Peace Machine
to begin
Rise up, rise up
strong-hearted women
and gentle-hearted men
Replace the monetary
bottom line
with the sustainable-living
bottom line
Instead of billion dollar
killing machines
build billion-dollar
feeding machines
to feed instead of bomb
the world's poor
Given the status quo
it's tempting to think
it is impossible
but it is Possible
It only takes
a billion wills
to make it so
(And, obviously, global warming has to be addressed urgently - just think: switching to clean and "free" energy, aside from providing work for hundreds of thousands of people everywhere, will also soothe and settle Mother Nature's angst. Please let our leaders hear YOUR voice about these critically important issues.)
Namaste
Wonderful post and I love your peace globe. Peace be with you, now and always.
ReplyDeleteRightly so! The political will to ensure peace will emerge is lacking. Those who want it are in no position to effect change as they lack resources. Nicely Sherry!

Beautiful. Tears in my eyes. Raise the voices and the paws. Peace is possible.
ReplyDeletethat is a powerful message of peace, sherry... your "paws 4 peace" with a picture of your two lovely pets is awesome.
ReplyDeletedona nobis pacem!
Yes, it is said before we can envision it, we must learn how to say it. Beautifully said.
ReplyDeleteThanks for posting the Red Shoes Book on your site! It was such a pleasure to work with you on the project.
ReplyDeleteIt may be a small flame, but the need for peace will never be extinguished.
ReplyDeleteUntil the love of money is a thing of the past, peace is never going to happen. Too much money to be made in weapons of war, none to be made in feeding anyone who has no money to pay for the food.
ReplyDeleteSad, isn't it, because I agree, peace could be achieved and, it isn't unthinkable, if we all globally want the same thing, problem is, as it's always been, money, ego, greed.
But, hope springs eternal.
I think it's only a matter of time before we figure out how to stop killing each other for power and begin living in harmony with each other.
ReplyDeletePeace to you and yours on this Blog Blast Day.

Ever since I was a young child, I have wondered why the money used in war wasn't used to make life good. Just imagine, if every person in the world had enough to eat, a home to live in, a job to go to, surely that must feed back into society and make it a stronger one.
Thanks for your visit over to mine...your thoughts and contributions are always welcome and and insightful!
Peace to you and yours!
(A link to your post will be on "Peace Bloggers Unite" later)
I wish we could bring peace in this tortured world and we will if we can change the mindset of the rich and powerful. Others first, ourselves last . . .
