Wild Woman, Dancing in the Rain

google image

Gray skies,
hovering,
rain tapping
timpani
on porch roof,
a faint throbbing hum
from the wind chimes.
Parched trees
drinking gratefully,
the last curled golden leaf
wavering
on its gnarled branch.

The horse is sheltering
under the dripping pines
and, if you look
through the mist,
you can see
Wild Woman,
dancing in the rain.

  4. After two days of torrential rain, I could have been the girl in the picture. I loved the inclusion of the horse - such a lovely attention to detail.

Good rhythm to dance to as long as all the other elements come out to play too.

  21. Everything is delightful about this poem... the embracing of what nature delivers to our door. My favorite image, though is:

    rain tapping
    timpani
    on porch roof,
