Lullaby

Tree Girl With Woodpeckers 1960
Kaoro Kawano
Fair Use

In the darkling forest
verdant and serene
small gentle birds
tapping a lullaby
to sleeping tree sprite

A tanka for Kerry's prompt at Real Toads: Let's Paint a Picture

  1. And here I thought they were just practicing to be drummers in a rock band. Once had one who stopped tapping and played peek-a-boo with me for fifteen minutes. Couldn't help grinning at the memory you brought forth.

  2. Oh, Sherry, this is beautiful. How I adore the idea of the pecking of birds being music to sprites' ears.

  11. Oh, I love this. You saw gentleness where drilling birds might summon noise and bother. I prefer your vision.
