Human hands
join in protest,
resisting oppression.
Human hearts
in search of freedom
express the glory
and nobility
of the human spirit,
when it rises
like an awakened dragon
to oppose
tyranny.

for Sumana's prompt at Midweek Motif: Glory. I am always moved when the human spirit rises, shining the light of truth on all that is dark. I am wondering at the apathy in North America these days. The passivity is alarming.
How lovely :)
ReplyDeleteThat wonderful dragon, defending and walking forward with what's morally meaningful! May we find it in groups and alone.
ReplyDeleteOh, if only we could amass the peaceniks as well as the monsters amass their armies....
ReplyDeletePeace is still out there as this poem proves
ReplyDeleteSherry I love your poem. May that dragon rise.
ReplyDeleteI think we here in North America are stunned. I seek what to do to combat the oppression but I get discouraged when nothing - demonstration, the courts etc. seem powerless against the monster. My friends and I give money to good causes, we attend small demonstrations (our town is small), we write letters. We're so discouraged.
It is so good to see them protest to maintain the Hong Kong they know and love. I do hope that Hongkong can retain the lifestyle that has made the port city so successful in the past.
ReplyDeleteI love these words and those pictures. I wonder sometimes if the passivity is built into the landscape...everything spread out, no center.
ReplyDeletePeaceful resistance gives hope when we see apathy and submission all around...
ReplyDeleteHow I love the image of the dragon rising! yes, down with tyranny...
ReplyDeleteA worrying situation for countries in the South Pacific. No one can predict the outcome.China has a poor human rights history.
ReplyDeleteYou capture the zeitgeist perfectly
ReplyDeleteSuch a powerful message here Sherry.
ReplyDeleteI admire the unity, but fear for it.
