Tree

Roots dig deep into the earth,
as branches reach towards the sky.
In between is everything
that grounds, and strives,
and makes me I.

The wind soughs and sighs;
rain on my leaves alive and glistening.
All is music,
and all of my being
is attuned,
and listening.

  1. It's so important to remain grounded and to hold head high. Only then perhaps the ethereal music is heard...beautiful Sherry as always :)

  3. To feel a part of the earth isn't as easy as it sounds - it takes patience and an open mind...and a whole lot of wisdom...

    I love this, Sherry. You seem to have captured the melody of the trees themselves in these lines.

  6. Tears here, Sherry ... "makes me I" ... "attuned and listening" ... perfect words to rhyme, pleasing pace and tone of gratitude. So brave to say so little and let it resound in my heart.

    Great ending Sherry. It caught the very essence of the goodness of rustling leaves and forest life that were alive if one cared to listen.

  8. Sough is such a beautiful word. A very lyrical poem. One can almost hear the gentle sighing of the breeze through the leaves

  9. 'and as I listen the leaves sing more, making a concerto encore' and the whole tree joins in the symphony putting the forest in a trance, as I with the tree begin to dance'-a beautiful poem Sherry remarkable inspiring
