The Girly
who is happy in her new home,
especially as she still gets to see
her aunties every week.
We're happy about that too!
I was THRILLED when a heron landed
some feet in front of me
on the beach and I managed to get
the closest shots I have ever
managed of this wonderful creature.
Sigh. I am content!
I wasn't quick enough to get the eagles overhead.
Dogs, herons and ancient tree beings. It is a wonderful world!
Sharing at earthweal.com , to remind us of this beautiful world we want so much to heal and help.
xoxoxo♥️
ReplyDeleteMenina is so cute! Any reason why she is named that?
ReplyDeleteThe Herons are so camouflaged with the pebbles that a poem has started whirring in my head lol
I know, looking through the view finder, I had a hard time FINDING it to get the photos.......Menina is a Mayan name, I believe. I cant remember what it means, I was told it and forgot. Will try to find out.
ReplyDeleteMinino means girl--or boy--I'm not sure which, in Portuguese I believe. Than k you for inviting me fore this waklk with you. I want to do it in person, but if I blow up the photos really big I can imagine being there in the air, touch and smell and all, with the giants around me. Love this.
ReplyDeleteMenina - yes, it means a girl in Portugeuse........but there is another meaning in another language that I cant remember......
DeleteWhat a magnificent walk. I'm sure it was fun and healing for all of you. What good aunties you are. The pictures are great.
ReplyDeleteSherry the above comment is from me, Myrna
DeleteI am so impressed with your tree photos. We have nothing like them here. You are so lucky. And the heron, wow!! Menina is a lucky, lucky dog. I am so glad you have each other.
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing the photos. I love the heron and it is indeed difficult to get close as they are very observant of their surroundings. He must have trusted you. Those trees have a story, I am especially drawn to the one that appears to have fallen and created an archway.
ReplyDeleteI was standing on the beach and he lit in front of me a ways. I was astonished!
Deleteenchanted forest indeed ~
ReplyDeleteWhat wonderful trees!
ReplyDeleteI love the way the pictures bring nature home to us, Sherry. Thank you for reminding us that beauty (and life)still does exist.
ReplyDeleteA Mary Oliver ode to joy, told in pictures! What lush presence on your island off the western shore. - Brendan
ReplyDeletebeautiful part of the world, Sherry, great photos..JIM
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful place Sherry and being a tree lover, I especially enjoy the tree pics - oh that I could see them!
ReplyDeleteAs Jim said - you live in a beautiful part of the world.

That is so beautiful! I would love to walk there and those trees! I hope I'm not bringing up hurt but I remember something happening with your dog? So is this one of your dogs you get to visit? Something about a landlord not letting you have a dog? I also read your comment about not having much but having all you need. That is what I love about you. I too, don't have much but as long as I can ride my bicycle and enjoy the outdoors I'll be happy money or no money. People have too much and lose sight of what's important. We see it every day. Glad to write with you guys the site is very cool. As you know, I adore the earth. Hugs and kisses!
ReplyDeleteI have been mourning my wolf-dog, Pup, since he died nine years ago, Bekkie. Renters in Canada are rarely allowed to have pets - at the same time they are required to pay ridiculously exorbitant rents. Sigh. But my friend and I found a dog who needed us, and started walking her often. She is very attached to us so when she was moved to a home in our sister village, we started driving to see her weekly. I still find it very hard not living with a dog for companionship. But I walk around with dog treats in my pocket and dogs greet me with joy. I get my pats in, in return. LOL.
ReplyDeleteThis is so, so beautiful Sherry. I am breathing in mother nature here. I Love trees but don't get to see much where I live. Thank you.
