Driving through
the lashing rain,
rounding the curve,
as she felt the car
fly out from
underneath her,
hydroplaning across
the oncoming lane
towards
the embankment,
the last thing
she heard
from the tape deck
was Carolyn Myss's
voice,
saying:
"Wake-Up Call."
The weird thing about this was, the day before, I had given my daughter instructions that the dog would be in the basement and were the key was, as if I knew something would happen. She said, "oh as if you're going to have an accident!" Next time she saw me was in the hospital. The concrete abutment kept me from going over. I so often think of the last words I heard before the crash: "wake-up call". Eery!
ReplyDeleteWhere, that is.
ReplyDeleteWOW!
ReplyDeleteAnd to Carolyn Myss, no less. Clearly you listened!
Sherry, this is extremely eerie. So glad that concrete abutment was there. I have no idea who Carolyn Myss is though......
ReplyDeleteCarolyn Myss is a spiritual guru, especially for women - she wrote Anatomy of the Spirit and Sacred Contracts. What was amazing was, four seconds after my car came to rest against the abutment, a semi toiled up the hill - had anything been a few seconds different, I would have been on his grill. So I considered myself very lucky!
ReplyDeleteCarolyn Myss has also done a great deal of work in defining different types of archetypal energies, those roles we take on because they are familiar from stories, legends, myths etc. Really informative stuff.
ReplyDeleteSherry, what an experience and it would certainly constiture a Wake Up Call. Synchronicity is incredible, isn't it?
Elizabeth
I never knew about the 'wake up call'!!!!!!!! Or, perhaps I was distracted by the wretched shape you were in :'( So so so scary. God.
ReplyDeleteShadows in the rain ...
ReplyDeleteAnother amazing story you lived to tell about, wow! I spent a fair bit of time with Carolyn Myss myself in my waking up days, but it wasn't as scary as this, thank goodness. Glad you're still with us...
