RAVEN'S GIFT

allaboutbirds.org

Raven travels the Blue Road
to bring Wild Woman a gift.

You carry a message of trust,
says Raven,
light for the darkness of our times.
There is magic in the void,
creative forces swirling in the cosmos.
Reach up, and grab yourself a fistful of hope.
Scatter the news that all is far from lost,
that for every troubled soul,
there are one thousand more
dreaming only of peace,
of justice.

Continue affirming
that being more, not having more,
is where peace lies.

Raven hopped onto the hood
of Wild Woman's car just yesterday morning.
She gifted him with crumbled biscuit,
and he flew, swift, away,
bread in his beak, and happy.

A gift for a gift.

One from 2014, my friends. Just because. This day has brought gifts, wanted to give one in return.

  5. Even the smallest interaction with a wild creature is a gift when it shows a measure of trust.

: if only the world understands this more.

in our culture, ravens(and crows) are viewed with ominous suspicion, but i have learned to come to accept them.

  15. Reading this again, I am so happy. The poem I wrote today has a Raven, too, but it is Poe's and would, if it existed, carry a very different message.

    " A gift for a gift."
    Thank you.

  16. A beautiful gift to remind us of the giving, the giving back....and that you give us so much with your words...

'You carry a message of trust,
    says Raven,
light for the darkness of our times.'

And the hope, the message of being more is what we need now! Thank you Wild Woman.

  21. How wonderful and uplifting - yes, let's all grab hope and spread it around. Being more...so very true and so very precious in these times today. Thank you for this gift. My crows are spoiled. Several know that in the afternoon, late, bread is to be had and they come for a visit. Some eat from my hand, a couple like my shoulders as a perch where I hand them nibbles. The little birds come as well. All of them happy and sharing their gifts.

  24. " that for every troubled soul,
    there are one thousand more
    dreaming only of peace,
    of justice."

These are wise words, Wild Woman. We all need to keep that message at the forefront of our minds, during these troubled times - when the barbaric actions of so few, are capable of stirring such anger and frustration in so many.

  26. Sherry, There is something so fascinating about ravens...it seems they've always connoted something "more" as either messengers or as signs in and of themselves. Your meeting with the raven makes you part of the mystery in a most constructive and pleasing way. Well done.

  27. normally they are seen as omens of death but your Corvid's message is quite contrary - magical and especially loved the fistful of hope

  28. A gift for a gift....I remember one bright morning, deep in sorrow, a raven hopped on the rear view mirror of my car, and began doing antics. I knew the universe was trying to cheer me, and it did!

  29. Is it one for 'death', two for 'marriage' and three for 'birth?' Something like that?
