Let's gather some embers
from the communal fire
of hope,
take them home
to light our own
hearth fires,
spread the warmth.
Let's keep the candle
of kindness,
of empathy,
of revived energy,
burning in our hearts
through the
challenging days
ahead.
I am so relieved. As is much of the world. I am so happy for my neighbours to the south. I have deep respect for Joe Biden and Kamala Harris. They have a big job to do. I have confidence in them. Grumpypants will likely not take part in the transition, ungracious as he is. I won't miss him.
How cool, on the news in Washington Square, people are singing Beatles songs. First time I have felt this happy and hopeful since November 2015.
As the Mayor of Paris exclaimed ... “Welcome back America.”

ReplyDeleteI'm for the Singer, wonder what Beatless songs? I sing with them HE WAS NOT MY PRESIDENT and let me know many times. He is a racist who was dead set against everything that President Obama and his administration had accomplished. Since he wants to run again in 2024 if he had any sense he would leave politely. I'm betting though that he would like to start a little Venezuela.

Love this poem! I find myself remembering Christmas services where candles were lit hand to hand before carols and...well, weirdly enough, the final scene from the Ghostbusters II where the Statue of Liberty cracked open the slime dome covering the museum. I'm going to hope that it takes less than that in January.
ReplyDeleteI missed the Beatles songs...which one? Gosh, I hadn't realized how hard yesterday would hit me. I cried and laughed all day long, watching. I saw a meme on Facebook that said, "Be the kind of person so that the whole world doesn't dance in the streets when you lose your job." Love it. We can hope again.

"Let us rejoice and be glad..." - words from a hymn I used to sing in church. I want to cherish these moments. My heart is singing and dancing. I send all good wishes to Biden and Harris. Their job will be difficult but let us all help them along.
ReplyDeleteTrying to savor this moment--and I do feel a great relief, and a certain hope. But I don;t think it's going to be as easy as it seems to get him out. He will have to be forced out, and I only hope we can do it. But we should savor this moment, when the young people spoke for their generation.
