Dear Kitty,
I am young
in an Old Soul body.
In my eyes
lie dreams of the future
and fear that one day
the sirens will stop
outside our door.
I see the darkness in humans
from which we hide,
yet still believe
that people are good.
I want to live.
But if i can't live,
I hope to be
remembered.
Love, Anne
For the Midweek Motif prompt: Anne Frank, a bundle of contradictions.
Am wiping tears away, Sherry.

ReplyDeletemuch love...
She was old in a young body, and so I relate to this reversal having youth in me still. Sigh. I like the form you chose here--a natural. And the contradictions! Tears.
ReplyDeleteAnne has started to live after her sad death. She is all light and so is this poem Sherry. Absolutely beautiful.
ReplyDeleteYour poem reminds us forcefully that Anne Frank will never truly die, but live on and on in humble and compassionate hearts and minds.
ReplyDeleteYes - great take on the prompt. Gets to the heart of it.
ReplyDeleteThank You for soulfulness
ReplyDeleteThis is deeply soulful, Sherry!💖 I love the voice in this and feel like hugging the speaker. Sigh.. 😊
ReplyDeleteAnd remembered she is, Sherry! A heart-breaker of a poem.
ReplyDeleteA beautiful restatement of her truth.
ReplyDeleteIf I can't live..i want to be remembered... that's a heartbreaking thought for a child...
ReplyDeleteThe food was always great, I think they just updated their menu and it's off the hook. Who would expect delicious pizza at such big events. Not me, but you can get some of the best pizza at NYC venues here. The best place in this area.
ReplyDeleteYou have touched the soul of that little girl who will always be remembered.
ReplyDeleteOh, Sherry, this read as if it were her own entry. Really brought tears to my eyes, and made me wonder, again, how people can be filled with such hatred.
