Waves

keyhole - painting waves by Paul Carter

Is Wild Woman brave enough
to peek through the keyhole to her future
and see what it reveals?

Will it be wave-song and mornings,
or farewells and sunsets?

It takes courage
to want to know
the answer.

  4. Good question for each of us, Sherry. I think if it is something positive we would like to know...but if it is negative, I don't think so.

  5. Very true and beautifully spoken Sherry. It is kind of like denial. To face the truth takes courage to be willing to ask the questions of utter truth certainly does take a great courage. You have a courageous heart Sherry. :-)

  18. Never have I had m palm read or been even tempted to have cards read - I don't even like horoscopes. Don't want to know or even "play" with the idea. Nice questioning poem.

  22. In my journey, life has thrown me so many curves, I didn't see coming through the keyhole, I have taken to proceeding down life's path, in the knowledge that it is a given: I WILL BE SURPRISED ... occasionally, pleasantly surprised (ha!) that is about as close as I have come to knowing the answer, before heading off in a new direction! I agree, it does take courage to constantly pursue - to want to know - what surprises lie ahead. An interesting piece, Sherry ... made me think about the process.

  26. Perhaps that is why we are blissfully unaware of what the future may hold, Sherry. I think the majority of people would not have the courage needed to look at their future unflinchingly. Nicely done!

  27. Sherry,

I'm not sure that I'd seriously want to know' my pathway and what it holds for me.'I'm simply not that courageous. Perhaps it stems from exposure to too many old wives tales, or Irish preaching!!
