If Jesus met the Buddha on the road,
they might sit down under a tree
and share a flask of water.
They'd talk about how they
loved the people,
how they wanted all beings
to be free of suffering,
how they wanted everyone
to "Love One Another."
They'd say, "Hey, man,
I'm your bruthah
from another mutha."
They'd part friends.
They say if you go all the way back,
through all of your ancestors,
to the very beginning,
some would be Jesus' kin,
some the Buddha's.
Under that tree,
that Bodhi tree,
the Tree of Life,
where they sat
sharing their love of humanity,
Jesus and the Buddha
became brothers.
That makes us all kin.
Here's a prayer,
this sunny Easter Sunday,
whatever your beliefs,
if there is a little corner inside you
with some room,
that Jesus will set up housekeeping
in your heart,
the Buddha take up residence
in your soul.
Oh yes, I hope they do.

I love your prayer Sherry. We have so much to gain by listening to the wise and holy ones.
ReplyDeleteIts springtime Sherry, and the Bodhi tree must be getting dressed in new green. A time for renewal and rejuvenation as the message of the Easter says, a time for new prayers to wash our souls clean
ReplyDeletePeace.

ReplyDeleteI love we are all kin ;D
and Jesus and Buddha are bros~
:D
I respect your pure thoughts... but I guess (with due respect to all the religions)other great Prophets/Lords need to sit for a coffee with Jesus instead of Buddha for the interest of world-peace... (PS-I'm not a Buddhist)
ReplyDeleteCheers :-)
We are all kin ~ Lovely message Sherry ~
ReplyDeleteA resounding "YES!"
ReplyDeleteWouldn't that be a wonderful exchange to witness and participate in?
We are of like mind, Sherry.
It is all about the love.

Nice piece Sherry! Happy Easter!
ReplyDeleteI like it, Sherry. You and I are likely to be kin also--well for sure we are if we go way back to Adam and Eve.
ReplyDeleteAs a follower of Christ Jesus, He tells me that I have done the right thing. But also He speaks to me of being tolerant to all others as He came to earth and died and was raised from death for everyone. Whether or not the others accept that is up the individual person.
That is why we call Easter a Christian holiday, it was begun by name by the follows of Christ.
..
thank you for the prayer ...
ReplyDeleteHow lovely!
