Cloud Crossing Moon

google image

A cloud is crossing the moon.
I stand watching
as it becomes
a person,
then an angel,
then a face,
and next
 a heart.

I waited,
hoping to
see you
up there,
but then
it turned back
into vapor,
and was
just a cloud,
again,
moving on.

Another Pantoum

[image from google]

I woke at dawn and sprang from bed,
the day's delights spread all before,
went to the  threshold,  flung it wide
and found a moon outside my door.

The day's delights spread all before,
I asked had it been left behind,
that moon I found outside my door,
as night tiptoed across the fields.

I asked had it been left behind,
or stayed, a silvery offering,
when night tiptoed across the fields,
to grace my day with all life yields.

It stayed, a silvery offering,
bearer of dreams  outside my door,
to grace my day with all life yields.
I could not ask for beauty more.

Bearer of  dreams  outside my door,
when I went to the threshold, flung it wide,
I could not ask for beauty more,
when I woke at dawn and crossed the floor.

[Again some liberties, on the last line, to better satisfy the rhyming pattern. Totally illegal.]

Midnight Moon

[utahskies.org]

La Luna,
so full and round
and golden,
so beautiful
and tranquil,
so serene,
midnight moon,
looking down
on this planet
of distress and turmoil,
beam us
some much-needed
peace.

Midnight Storm

[image from google.com]

Out in the midnight storm,
howling gusts lashing
the mighty pines.
Don't fall on me.

~~~
 Full-throated blast nipped with snow,
roaring down the silvered mountain;
Sounds of nature's fury everywhere.
Full moon.
~~~
A lull in the storm, so calm,
then blasts the north wind,
skies are indigo;
dead leaves skittering across the yard~
a groan from the mighty maple.

MANDARIN MOON

I awake in the deep dark
of the night
to see
a huge round
full-faced moon
staring in
at me
as if it had zoomed close
with my eyes closed,
I catching it
unawares
before it rose.

There she sat,
perched in the bowl
of my old tree,
like an over-sized
Christmas ornament
thus adorning
just for me
the starkly bare
and brittle branches and,
much more,
allowing me to see
its beauty
closer
than I ever have
before.

I stare back:
eternal purveyor
of myth and mystery,
as if it holds the secret
of whatever is to be
and has ventured thus
to urge me forth
from out
my purple bed,
to find a path
where all my
broken dreams
can be
much better fed.

This radiant
so-close moon
and I agree:
surrender to no man,
and yet,
in giving
I'm most free.
This silvery ambassador
is urging me
to find a way
to give
all that I can -
Mandarin Midnight Moon
that sailed here
last night
from Japan.
