Each day
is framed
by sunrises and sunsets.
What we do in between
is our lives,
days drifting by dreamily,
as if there will
always be
more time.
Let's remember
to stop often,
look up at the sky,
smile at passing dogs
and people,
commune with trees
and waves,
breathe deeply
the gift of the hours
that are ours,
scatter
handfuls of happiness,
be grateful.
for Sumana's prompt at Midweek Motif: Seize the Day.
"scatter handfuls of happiness" and "commune with trees".. lovely thoughts.. Such a simple poem full of truth of how our days should be.
ReplyDeleteThis is so prayerful and uplifting. Thank you for this great advice on how to live. Though you're not my elder, I so much appreciate your wisdom.
ReplyDeleteOh yes, the importance of living in gratitude. Thanks for this thoughtful reminder, Sherry.
ReplyDeleteYour words are exactly why I woke up and smelt the coffee!
ReplyDeleteYou have such a way with words, Sherry. Your poems always speak to me!
ReplyDeleteI will! I'll scatter them now and each moment as if there were nothing else that mattered. Maybe it will become true, and spread like sunshine.
ReplyDeleteI can think of nothing better than scattering happiness! Wonderful, Sherry.
ReplyDeletescatter handfuls of happiness... how beautiful that is...
ReplyDeleteIt is an enigma isn't it? Whether to rush through life trying to complete the life list or to take it easy and enjoy every moment doing what pleases you. However it is our relationship with others that is most fulfilling 'scattering that happiness' as you say and loving the world.
ReplyDelete"scatter
ReplyDeletehandfuls of happiness,
be grateful."......May we all live in this spirit. Such an uplifting poem Sherry!
A lovely picture of each day 'framed
ReplyDeleteby sunrises and sunsets', Sherry. I already 'stop often,
look up at the sky,
smile at passing dogs
and people,
commune with trees
and waves',
all excellent advice!
