Once I was a green-leafed love-note,
rising on a fecund breath.
I was a promise
winging up and over the mountains
towards a shining silver sea.
Once my spirit flew unfettered
through the cosmos,
in my dreaming seeking answers
in distant galaxies.
Some paths led straight and true;
some paths traveled in circles,
bringing me back home.
Mid-flight,
I finally found the place
all journeying leads to:
the space connecting
our heads
and our hearts.
I woke up this morning with the first line of this poem in my head. Expanded on it for Sumana's prompt at Midweek Motif: Space.
Luv it

the freshness and promise of flight. We should all off like this
Much love...
"Spirit flying unfettered through the cosmos" ... I love the word-drawn picture! Great read.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, Sherry!
ReplyDeleteWow. Amazing how your subconscious leaves you messages. Love what you did with it.
ReplyDeleteThat space that connects our heads and hearts is precious.
LOVE!❤️ Its amazing how sometimes a floating image or verse can fire up our muse isn't it? Especially adore "I was a promise winging up and over the mountains towards a shining silver sea." Sigh.. beautifully executed!❤️
ReplyDeleteLots of love,

Haha! You surprised me! I was wondering where that profound leaf was going. Again, we are waiting for the truth from the other side of life, when it is always alive in our mind/imagination/spirit. Wonderful!
ReplyDeleteThat must of been some night, Sherry! Lol! Lines from my poems often wander through my head at certain times during the day or night. I jot them down in a note app.
ReplyDeleteI hope your move is done. That picture is beautiful as is your thoughts. Have a nice end to your week. Hugs!
Love it. I 'expanded' something swimming in my head all day today, too. ;) Love when that happens. And that space between head and heart is more important than ever now. Sigh.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful message this is, Sherry. It is when our hearts and heads connect that we are truly wholly alive.
ReplyDeleteah, the words of a free spirit.
ReplyDeleteOnce my spirit flew unfettered

you encourage me to do my own soul-searching!
Very Nice. The dreams of a poet sing out.
ReplyDelete"Bringing me back home" is that inherent feeling that we all seem to have inside us to find happiness at last. What a wonderful poem Sherry.
ReplyDeleteI just love the idea of a green leaf love note taking off into the cosmos! Wow!
ReplyDeletefor "a green-leafed love-note," awaits the dream space, "connecting / our heads
ReplyDeleteand our hearts" always...a beautiful and inspiring life....
the space connecting
ReplyDeleteour heads
and our hearts.
It makes it so easy to fall in love!

A lovely poem, Sherry, which took me from the great spaces of the cosmos to the tiny (yet boundless) space that connects head and heart...
