Winter tree,
your skeleton
of bare brown branches,
unadorned,
looks lifeless,
yet you are only waiting
for the cycle
of buds and blossoms
and soft
spring rain.
You're like a winter heart,
furled tight and
frozen against the pain,
that is finally
blessed by sunlight,
and blooms
again.
