Singing Through Her Bones
Day 13 of the Soul Card Journey
with Elizabeth Crawford at Soul's Music
Soul Cards by Deborah Koff-Chapin at http://www.touchdrawing.com/
[paraphrased from Natalie Goldberg's Singing Down the Bones]
Traveler
lives in
many layers:
skeleton woman,
outer appearance,
aura,
energy,
the tactile senses.
She journeys
through this world
from the inside out,
carrying all
she has learned
in some
interior chamber.
Her inner
Wild Woman
knows
far more
than she does.
She points
the way;
she is
her own
True North.
Wild Woman
is always
singing through
her bones.

Stars In Our Bones
This beautiful photo of the Elaho River was taken by my son, Jon Merk.
I read something rather beautiful this morning - thought I'd share it with you.
The small plot of ground
on which you were born
cannot be expected
to stay forever
the same.
Earth changes,
and home
becomes different
places.
You took flesh
from clay
but the clay
did not come
from just one
place.
To feel alive,
important, and safe,
know your own waters
and hills, but know
more.
You have stars
in your bones
and oceans
in blood.
You have opposing
terrain in each eye.
You belong to the land
and sky of your first cry,
you belong to infinity.
