St Francis - source
One wonders if saintliness
is simply consciousness evolving,
the challenge and test
of humankind which, sadly,
we seem to be failing.
The longer one lives,
the more truly we know:
all that matters is love
and to do no harm.
Amen, sister. LOVE!
ReplyDeleteYes, all that matters is indeed to love one another!
ReplyDeleteLovely piece!
ReplyDeleteCan't argue with that.
ReplyDeleteIsn't doing no harm the essence of sainthood?
ReplyDeleteSadly, Sherry, for too many of us, we let fear and anger, be our guiding hand, in the way, we approach life. In the perfect world, love and compassion, would be our guiding inspiration.
ReplyDeleteAmen! such a lovely poem :D
ReplyDeleteLots of love,
Sanaa
Wise & Lovely
ReplyDeleteSadly greed and jealousy fights that tooth and nail. We all hope things will improve but there are few examples of this actually happening. Avarice appears to be unstoppable...so few hope on; others hop on to the bandwagon.
ReplyDeleteBeautifully said...
ReplyDeleteBeautifully stated Sherry. I like that you put up a poster of St. Francis. Legend or true story, I like that he is considered a lover of animals and I LOVE animals. I think we all have saintliness within but like any muscle it must be exercised.
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful...I feel in the United States we are not evolving. It is so painful to live it. When did peace become a threat?
ReplyDeleteVery lovely. I truly agree..
ReplyDeleteit's a great counter point to the passion that exists in the heart of some young men. the older one gets the more you learn life is precious and worthy of preservation.
ReplyDeleteYes indeed - sometimes we have to go backwards in a way in order to progress within ourselves and accept the world around us and the nature of our being - succinctly and wisely written..as always xo
ReplyDeleteSo very true, Sherry!
ReplyDeleteYes indeed - If we can look at love rather than power we might become saints along the way.
ReplyDeleteI agree Sherry, bless you ~
ReplyDelete"Consciousness evolving." WELL SAID! Good on you for identifying this quality, Sherry. Love the pic of one of my favorite environmentalists! A short poem, packed with goodness. Love, Amy
ReplyDeleteExceptional attitude and expressed so well, Sherry! Love it! Walt
ReplyDeleteBeautiful Sherry
ReplyDeleteSo true!
ReplyDeleteBeautifully penned!!
all that matters is love
ReplyDeleteand to do no harm.
A sincere and noble take and great ending Sherry!

"saintliness
ReplyDeleteis simply consciousness evolving"
and your closing....such truths simply and beautifully stated are a fresh breath. Thank you, Sherry!
You have written about things that I have actually been wondering about. Do the Saints have a grasp of another dimension that is not accessible to the senses? And is it Love that shows us the way to reach beyond the mundane?
ReplyDeleteHI Sherry, your poem is a simple distillation of goodness and humanity at its best, which is saintliness! Nice write!
