Jisei

flickr.com

As the window to Life gently closes,
I catch one last glimpse
of my friend, the sky.

***

The candle warms but briefly,
too soon,
it flickers out.

***

After a long dark night,
my soul rises
to greet the rosy dawn.

***

At this moment,
to you, a final gift of words:
live every moment well.

  1. Oh I love the thought of an advice to those left behind. How I would love to see a sky at dawn.

  2. Ah yes.. to put
    now first means
    only
    dying once..
    some folks
    die all their
    life.. endless
    death as
    worry..
    in Life..:)

  5. I love all of these, so simple but so profound each one. I love the third one the best, though I can't say why. Peace, Linda

  6. haiku free verse; love it; makes superb death poems--we can only hope our life will be a long night vs. a fevered dream. This form has produced some fine poetics out her on the trail.

  21. Perhaps that is how we can honor the dead,
by living what time we have left - as well as we can.
    Too soon, for sure.
