Yesterday, my friends, my cousin Sandi came through from our home town of Kelowna to take me to the beach for the day. It was wonderful beyond all expectation. We hit the village of Tofino first, Common Loaf Bakery first on the list, for cinnamon buns, and some loaves of peasant bread to bring home. I was enchanted by the twittering of baby birds, who lived in this little house on the front of the bake shop, right by the outdoor tables.
Mama bird kept flitting away to find food,
and zipping back
to poke it into hungry baby mouths.
A mother's work is never done, even in birdland.

We took a peek at the Botanical Gardens,
which are beautiful.

The beautiful Wickanninish Beach
whose waves forever sing
their song in my heart

Sigh. How long I have missed these waves. Next we went to Ucluelet, Tofino's sister village at the other end of the peninsula, and discovered the Black Rock resort, where we had the most excellent late lunch - and view - ever!
Cousins, a day for the memory book!
I could get lost in that beauty. What a wonderful gift this day was.
ReplyDeleteI L.O.V.E. your picture in the wolf shirt. I had to zoom in a lot, but I did see your face! And of course, the beach is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! What a wonderful day to spend with your cousin.
ReplyDeleteOh, Sherry, I'm so happy for you. I know you don't get home to your beach often enough, so this was a double gift — a visit with your cousin, and a visit with the Wickanninish waves.
