When Raven Calls

This cool picture was created at digitaltrends.com
for a Mac application

When Raven
gives her gobble-cry,
listen for the message
she imparts.
She has visited your dreams.
She knows your secrets.
She is attracted to
the shiny brightness
of those longings
in your heart.

When the moon is full
and Owl Woman
sighs her weary sigh,
look up
into the heavens.
There be road maps there,
celestial navigation
to a land that is
the reverse image
of this one,
in the clouds.

They say stars
are but holes
in the floor of Heaven,
that lets
unearthly light
shine through.

May it bathe
all your dreams
in radiance.

Sometimes
an eagle, wind-surfing the sky,
lifts the heart
into its lazy spirals.
We gaze in wonder,
looking up,
as Brother Bird
experiences
the essence of freedom,
circling
the currents,
inhabiting
the space between
the earth and sky.
Our hearts take wing
and, for those few brief moments,
we can imagine
what it is
to fly.

Posted for Mary's prompt : A Bird's Eye View at Poetry Jam. My head always has a few birds flapping around in it, so this poem came easily. Owl Woman I borrowed from Ella who wrote recently about White Owl Woman.
