.....that's what little boys are made of.
It was a big weekend for Mr. S., kids, as we toured the countryside for fun things to do....playgrounds, a jaunt to the Quay for a malt, and - most fun of all - a playdate with his friend Kingston, where he experienced the Joy of Jumping for the first time on a trampoline.
As he bounced up and down, higher and higher, the grin on his face got bigger till he was drunk with joy. Lori couldnt hit the camera button fast enough to catch his grin, but it was the cutest thing ever.
Nothing like an ice cream with friends, after all the jumping!
It was such a hit, we're going to go back this afternoon for more!!
This morning, we explored Mcleans Mill, an old 1950's hand-operated
logging operation not too far from my house, which is now an item of tourist interest,
with demonstrations of logging as it was done not all that long ago,
when life - and logging - was more sustainable.
This weekend, they were displaying some old trucks and equipment on-site,
which added extra interest to this place, where I walk often, thinking of the families who once lived here (in very rugged conditions), in days when there wasnt even a road from town out Beaver Creek. Now I live a few minutes' drive from town - how things have changed.
He got to have a very fast ride on this little car, to his
intense delight, (and mine!).......
intense delight, (and mine!).......
shoot his new water-gun at the pond......
and otherwise take in the sights -
old trucks, old equipment, logging by hand -
a little boy's idea of heaven.
And, before it was time to go,
a visit to the steam train.
We so wanted to hop aboard,
but didnt have a ticket,
and I'm too big to hide stowaway!
We'll go another day.
I promised.
He's tired now, and scowling.
"I'm NOT Grumpy!"
with his lower lip stuck out a mile.
So it's home with Mr Crabby Bear
where he can go down for a nice,
transformative nap,
life-saving for both of us
Tired Bears!
