My Favourite Activist
This is Ta'Kaiya Blaney's latest video. Ta'Kaiya is now fifteen. She devotes her life to speaking on behalf of Mother Earth and its children and creatures. She sings straight to my heart, and has done since I first happened upon her. Ta'Kaiya is a member of the Sliammon Band in Powell River, B.C. She has addressed the United Nations, speaking for the children of the world, and their right to a future. Five years ago, I posted her first video, Shallow Waters, made when she was ten years old.
I so admire her original songs, her video, her vision, her clear eyes and voice, her message, her life. When she sings, my heart melts, and I have hope.
Shine on, Ta'Kaiya!

EARTH REVOLUTION
Earth Revolution ~ Caring for Creation from Salish Sea Marine Sanctuary on Vimeo.
One of my youngest heroes is Ta'Kaiya Blaney, of the Sliammon Band on the West Coast, whom I have written about before. She is now thirteen years old, and has been a singer and activist for Mother Earth since the age of ten. She very recently made an intervention at the United Nations itself, speaking on behalf of Indigenous children and youth. She blew them away!
This video is a visual delight for anyone who loves wild creatures and the natural world. But listen to the words of this girl's song :
"Stop waiting for Tomorrow.
Stop living Yesterday.
Cause there wont be Tomorrow
If we dont change Today.
Generation Now
Children of the Future
Earth's Revolution...."
Ta'Kaiya writes her songs herself, in collaboration with a relative. The one she wrote and sang at age ten still brings me to tears.
A small girl with a warrior's heart - a Rainbow Warrior. The Old Ones sent her here to give us this message. May it ring in every human heart. May we hear her in time.

Singing for Mother Earth
This song, Shallow Waters, is sung by ten year old Ta'Kaiya Blaney, of the British Columbia Sliammon First Nations. The song was a semi-finalist in the 2010 David Suzuki Songwriting Contest.
Her interests are singing, songwriting, acting, and she is concerned with the environment, especially the preservation of marine and coastal wildlife.
She just blew my heart wide open with her talent, a pure gift, and her beautiful spirit. If you feel like a little cry, feel like really loving and hoping for this planet, watch this shining little girl sing of her love for the earth.
Wow. Indigo Child for sure. When a pure spirit like this sings truth in a voice which is pure gift, the consciousness on the planet can only rise. Keep shining, Ta'Kaiya!
I dont know how to make this fit my space, so apologies for the overlap:)
