Batting Her Eyelashes
Okay, kids, Kay over at An Unfitties Guide to Adventurous Travel posted a photo of her famous dog, Lindy, called Batting Her Eyelashes. That sent me looking for this photo of Jasmine, who gets a certain look in her eye at times. You know how a girl just knows when she's pretty?
We took Kay's post as a direct challenge, hee hee. So here's Jas, up to bat!

Ms. Jasmine, Fresh from the Groomer
A tad mortified at having all of her curls shorn off. We had reached a point where we needed to just Start Over.
She perked up considerably, once she realized liver treats were part of the picture.
You might note the drool collecting along her jaws :)
Pretty Girl.
And so to bed, and dreams of more liver treats.

Easter Dog
In lieu of an Easter bunny, here is Jasmine.
She and I wish a Happy Easter to all who celebrate it,
happy spring to those enjoying spring,
and happy being alive
to everyone else.
There is always
something
worth celebrating, no?
Jas actually is finally losing some weight,
but still most resembles
a woolly mammoth.
Sigh.
Dieting is
a slow process,
faltering towards Perfection.
Rather like life,
a sort of Slow-Cooker
procedure.

It's The Big Pumpkin, Charlie Brown!
This is my great-grandson, Damian, age four, sitting atop his big pumpkin! All excited about Hallowe'en.
"No-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o!!!!!! Don't do it!!"
Here he is when he was younger, adorably outfitted for his first Hallwe'en:
Way too cute!
And proudly atop Beau, when he lived out at the farm:
Why do babies grow so fast? Babyhood is my favorite stage! We need another baby in this family! (hint, hint!)
If you want to get in the Hallowe'en mood, click on the link below and take a peek at the most amazing carved pumpkins ever - they are works of art. The site is cool too - bats flying out of his header. (How does he DO that??? I want bats! Or, at least, birds.)

Miss Jasmine has passed her first 24 hours after surgery. She is having a hard time hobbling, and managing the ramp out front is a difficulty. But one day at a time, we are moving through it, and it will get better. I made the vet laugh by telling her that dealing with it is better than thinking about it was, as is the case with life, in general. It is all in the Doing, kids!
Happy pumpkins to one and all!

It's All About the Love
It turns out Jasmine's injury is serious - a cruciate ligament rupture - that is the big ligament within the knee socket (on her rear right leg), so with its padding gone, every step she takes, the bone plates rub against each other, causing severe pain.
Surgery is needed. I have few resources. Between a rock and a hard place right now, as I gather information, and wrap my brain around the path ahead of us. Best case scenario, it can be done locally, will be successful and she faces a very long recovery period of at least a year. Worst case scenario, a specialist has to do it down-Island, she has the surgery and then blows her other knee from putting so much weight on it.
I was not expecting such a shock and there was a moment in the vet's office when I thought I might lose both my dogs this year. That's when everything started swirling and going black and they had to revive me with water and cold cloths.
But this little dog......innocent and trusting, and so undeserving of what has happened to her, in pain and hobbling.......this is the face she turns to me, this is the smile she gives. She is a gallant little dog, and she is all about the love, every minute.
