Driving down -Island,
Through Cathedral Grove,
I catch my breath at
glorious splotches of orange
against dark green of ancient cedar
in the ancestral garden.
Fog swirls the mountain slopes.
Happy little wave-tops prance
across Cameron Lake.
My heart fills with wonder
and I am rising
in falling-leaf love.
Mother Earth just keeps outdoing herself.
I am rising / in falling -leaf love: gorgeous... the blogs are full of fall poems these days...but this line especially spoke to me...thanks, Sherry.
ReplyDeleteLove your ending (raked leaves for my daughter yesterday). You live in a beautiful place.
ReplyDeleteFalling-leaf love started this week here, too. Any other year the hurricane would have stripped the trees but this year summer lasted until everyone got their electricity back. Sort of a miracle, I think. And now I've even got the Internet back.

Everybody enjoy your leaves, don't rake them, they are wildlife habitat.
ReplyDeleteOh my, that last line is beautiful - I too have fallen for autumn's splendor.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed the idea of falling in leaf love!
