I'm so lonely,
I told him.
Why am I always
alone?
I want a partner,
someone to
share my life,
someone to love,
who will love me.
Just love people,
he told me.
Just love people.
It's all Love.
I'm still alone,
but I'm no longer
lonely.
I know, now,
what he was
trying to
tell me:
It is
all Love.
For Poet's United's Thursday Think Tank: Loneliness
Yes, and, isn't it such a comfort when you finally 'get' it.
ReplyDeleteLovely prose Sherry.
This is something special, Sherry.
ReplyDeleteSherry, I agree, it is all love. We "feel" loneliest when we think we are not loved, when we forget that love is always all around us.

Love and let in the love.
ReplyDeleteLove people? I'd rather kick most of them in the shins. Hard.
ReplyDeleteAll around, but mostly, within.

ReplyDeleteThis is beautiful! Sherry, and what a wonderful response to the prompt.
ReplyDeleteA fine response to the prompt. A good read.
ReplyDeleteTrue! When we learn to love all, we feel one with them, even though we are separate people.
ReplyDeleteGreat wisdom well delivered.
Sherry, this is one of my favorite poems of yours of late. Yes, it is all love. But we all want a special kind of love, forgetting sometimes that all love is special; and also the best thing we can do is love ourselves. I am a fine one to talk, as you know. I am talking as much to myself as I ama to you.
ReplyDeleteConcise miniature of loneliness, and ultimately of love.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, Sherry.
