Moon Raven

Moon Raven,
Lift me up on your bent wing.
Swoop me away, through the misty night
Into the forest.

There we will commune
With wolf-ghosts and ancient trees.
We will sing with the spirits,
Ululate with owls,
Keen with all beings over our losses,
And send out blessings and gratitude
For All That Remains.

Towards dawn,
Having divested myself of my tears,
And having rekindled my hope,
Let me curl up in the roots
Of Grandfather Cedar,
Pillow my head with moss,
Pull pine boughs over my shoulders
And escape to my haven of forgetfulness:
A dream.

One from 2014, my friends, to be shared with the Poetry Pantry at Poets United.

How one would love to revert back to such moments of ecstasy and re-live those wonderful times

  4. Oh, I am glad that in this poem there is rekindled hope, Sherry. We must accept and embrace our tears, but then find a way to let hope come back in!

  10. If only we could have real inviolate sanctuaries for trees, animals and birds that could keep them all safe while humanity destroys each other. Sadly We just cannot be satisfied with what we have and realize that these wild places wassist our continuance but the real problem is us.

  11. How much I respect that place between All That Remains and dreams: A ghostly, bittersweet place, more sonorous and rich than anyone could imagine. Keep singing there.

  14. These are always my favorite kinds of poems by you, dearest Sherry. The ones where your speaker becomes one with Nature... and does wonderful things. "Lift me up..."

For All That Remains.' That is the key....that gratitude.
