Love Into Art

As fish long to walk on the shore,
and men yearn to take to the sky,
so has your radiant glow
always captured
my eye.

So far out of reach as you are,
I have long hid my love from afar,
as the day turns away from the moon,
and the sun from
a star.

All these years I have loved your bright heart,
though we've lived worlds and lifetimes apart.
Though you might never know
love that I'll never show,
I have turned loving you
into art.

A little ditty for Shay's prompt at Fireblossom Friday: Secret Love, and shared with the Poetry Pantry at Poets United.

  2. I love the way you set up each stanza as an analogy. The repetitious elements make this quite song-like. Such a pleasure to read.

  3. This flows almost like a cascading mountain stream... each stanza pools and then moves on..

  9. Musical and almost serene in its acceptance, a tender look at the secret heart and its pleasures and treasures.

  19. Such a tender write Sherry - i like the change of tone and pace.. it felt like a confessional - maybe to 'yourself'? perhaps our need to create any art is about trying to express our love - which you did wonderfully here

  28. I have to agree with Jae on this one. Finding our bliss, our art, our means of expressing what lies within is a falling in love ever deeper and more wondrous, and perhaps the greatest secret we will ever hold.

  29. This is beautiful, Sherry ... tender: a bit wistful and sweet - and yet, worldly-wise with an eloquence that gently articulates the depths and nuances and facets of ... LONGING.

The timeless, wonderfully rendered cadence - magically gifts the piece with wings.

    This is really special!
