He-Tin-Kis Park, Ucluelet, B.C.

Chris and I went to take Menina for her weekly walk yesterday in Tofino's sister village, Ucluelet, where she now lives. It was a glorious ramble, along a small beach, and through the forest. We saw such amazing trees! I wanted to share our walk with you. I thought it might lift your hearts to see the beauty of Mother Earth, which continues so generously, even in the midst of climate distress. Mother Earth is so brave that way: her mandate, and the mandate of all earthlings, is to live.

The Girly
who is happy in her new home,
especially as she still gets to see
her aunties every week.
We're happy about that too!

I was THRILLED when a heron landed
some feet in front of me
on the beach and I managed to get
the closest shots I have ever
managed of this wonderful creature.

Sigh. I am content!
I wasn't quick enough to get the eagles overhead.

Dogs, herons and ancient tree beings. It is a wonderful world!

Sharing at  earthweal.com , to remind us of this beautiful world we want so much to heal and help.

The Herons are so camouflaged with the pebbles that a poem has started whirring in my head lol

  5. I am so impressed with your tree photos. We have nothing like them here. You are so lucky. And the heron, wow!! Menina is a lucky, lucky dog. I am so glad you have each other.

  6. Thank you for sharing the photos. I love the heron and it is indeed difficult to get close as they are very observant of their surroundings. He must have trusted you. Those trees have a story, I am especially drawn to the one that appears to have fallen and created an archway.

  11. That is so beautiful! I would love to walk there and those trees! I hope I'm not bringing up hurt but I remember something happening with your dog? So is this one of your dogs you get to visit? Something about a landlord not letting you have a dog? I also read your comment about not having much but having all you need. That is what I love about you. I too, don't have much but as long as I can ride my bicycle and enjoy the outdoors I'll be happy money or no money. People have too much and lose sight of what's important. We see it every day. Glad to write with you guys the site is very cool. As you know, I adore the earth. Hugs and kisses!

  12. I have been mourning my wolf-dog, Pup, since he died nine years ago, Bekkie. Renters in Canada are rarely allowed to have pets - at the same time they are required to pay ridiculously exorbitant rents. Sigh. But my friend and I found a dog who needed us, and started walking her often. She is very attached to us so when she was moved to a home in our sister village, we started driving to see her weekly. I still find it very hard not living with a dog for companionship. But I walk around with dog treats in my pocket and dogs greet me with joy. I get my pats in, in return. LOL.
