Sky Watching

Combers Beach

Wild Woman has walked around
her whole life,
head tipped back and
grinning at the sky.

She is in love with blue,
lover of clouds and birds.
The changing canvas
holds her captive;
it keeps her Looking Up.

Friends, there is a
Sky-Show going on
this very minute!
Look out, look up,
and cast your grateful eye:
endless wonder awaits
when you fall in love
with Sky.

for Magaly's prompt at Midweek Motif at Poets United: not-so-old-fashioned hobbies. Sky-watching is mine.

  1. I've always thought of clouds (in so many shapes and in front of so many colors) are proof that Nature loves to watercolor. And we are so lucky that we get to enjoy that gift, in so many ways, every single day... if we just look (like you do)!

  5. When I awake and the sky is blue I can function. Fortunately I live in a land of almost perpetual blue sky.

  6. Trouble is when I look in the sky I am jealous of the birds flying. Why were they given that privelege when we had to grovel on the dirt below?

  8. Sky watching must be one of the first hobbies known to humankind, Sherry, an ancient pastime that everyone one should take up instead of gazing at their own navels or their shoes. I love the picture I have of Wild Woman’s ‘head tipped back and grinning at the sky’.

  11. The most wonderful thing about falling in love with Sky is that she's never the same twice, so you get to fall in love over and over again!

I too love staring at the beautiful sky, moving my eyes with the moving clouds. Amazing expression, you brought the sky in front of me.
