Bus of Dreams

Fairmont Empress Hotel in Victoria, B.C.

He drove his bus of dreams
all over town.
Poems formed.
He took the corners slow
and wrote them down.

Sometimes a child became a poem
and made him smile.
He dreamed,
though he was driving
all the while.

He drove his bus of dreams
all over town.
Poems formed.
He took the corners slow
and wrote them down.

for  Margaret's prompt at Real Toads: to write a poem based on city life. Somehow a bus driver poet got loose in this poem. He is a quiet sort; his poems will make no waves. Smiles.

  1. ... you know, I bet bus drivers could have the best poems... all they see, the people they observe!

  2. Who else would drive a bus of dreams? (Smile.)

  3. I like the idea of a bus driver turning his thoughts into poems behind the wheel.

  4. I think I met that poet! Victoria is a lovely city, and you've captured the twists and turns of the tour bus rather well.

  6. Really like this Sherry. Captures the bus, the driver, and the lure of the city. When I was still able to drive, I would take long drives, by myself, or with others. And, at some point, the words would start to dance, and I'd have to go home and write them down.
