Faint scent of flowering plum
and fresh-cut grass;
the puppy savours a small daisy
with aplomb.
I hear a raven's gobble-cry.
Puppy cocks her head,
looks up,
watches the bird in flight
in amazement.
A moment of wonder,
seen through a baby's eyes:
the world, brand-new.
This is for Paul's prompt at Real Toads: write here, right now. Right now, it is all Puppy. Lol. Her name is Zoey and she is as smart as she is beautiful. I get to be nanny all week. Yay!
Beautiful words Sharri. Look at this! What a little cutie, what joy. I am trying to look at our world with the same wonder and curiosity and let go of all fears, doubts. Probably in the grand scheme of things, the vastness, I am a PUP!
ReplyDeleteSuch a well penned observation of this lovely moment Sherry.
ReplyDeleteWhat a cutie! I love this, seen through a baby's eyes. And not a human baby either! We should all look at the world with such wonder and innocence.

ahhh ... yes, back to the poem, perfect capture of how the wonder of these "creatures" these babes, bring us back to earth, re-ground us, remind us, of the innocence, the wonder, the inspired all around - in the joy of each moment, in the discovery .... you know these moments so intimately Sherry and are able to bring us right to them ~ what a gift!
She look likee a darling, and your poem is exquisite.
ReplyDeletewell, "like a darling"
DeleteNice, nice Sherry. I am sooo glad you thought of the puppy's familiarization with the world process. Clever and observant. A young bird flew into our garage and seemed terrified. I scared him more yet waving my broom but I finally guided it to the open door.
ReplyDelete..
