Wild Woman Knows What She Knows II

Wild Woman knows what she knows,
and her wisdom is hard-won,
but no one young will listen.
They'd rather live the web they've spun.

**

Wild Woman is finally free.
She can never again be tamed.
She is growing old disgracefully,
and refuses to be blamed.

**

Wild Woman is beguiled
by the beauty of the earth,
knows the things that feed the spirit
are the only things of worth.

**

Wild Woman knows what she knows.
With the universe, she flows,
and she'll share her wisdom well
before she goes.

**

The source of this poem was one I wrote in 2013, which can be found here.

Magaly at Real Toads has asked us to compose a poem from a line of one of our own poems, so I picked one that popped up today as a facebook memory. The line quoted is from the title: Wild Woman Knows What She Knows.

  1. I love the third stanza! I am so glad you pulled the line from that poem of 2013 and brought it back to life. Yes ma'am...we Wild Women know what we know regardless...

  2. "She is growing old disgracefully,
    and refuses to be blamed."
True, true. And also a paradox:
Continuing to speak brings with it much grace.

    I love her!

  6. This is just so fine, I love your 'wild woman'. If I ever became a woman I am sure I would be a wild one. I did meet my mirror image last week, she was in her twenty's and I am married. Go figure. We matched down to type of car and motorcycles. She was wild.
    Ha.
I like your last verse best, they're all nice. With the universe, she flows (I'm sure), and she'll share her wisdom well (I know). Wild and wise.

  8. I think there are a quite few of us wild women sharing our wisdom and poetry! I love the lines:
    'She is growing old disgracefully,
    and refuses to be blamed'
    and
    '...beguiled
by the beauty of the earth,
knows the things that feed the spirit
are the only things of worth'.

  9. The wisdom of this woman is unafraid -- enough so that what was said before finds even more heart and tooth here.

  10. "Growing old disgracefully" got my attention and made me smile. I think wild woman is the Nightingale in a gilded world.

  12. i love the wisdom of people who made their experiences and know who they are and it's sad when young people don't listen.. maybe they have to learn from their own mistakes - growing old discracefully made me smile as well - ha - way to go...smiles

  13. That first line really says it Sherry....your wisdom is hard-won indeed, and it has made you the beautiful and strong wild woman that you are.
