Sea-Song

The song of the sea
is full of s's,
sibilant, sussurrating,
singing waves,
seaspray, salty,
slips and slides,
seabirds sailing
surf and sky,
seahorse, starfish,
castles, shells,
scent of seaweed
casts a spell.
sunset shining,
shimmering shore.
I sink,
I sink,
and leave no more.

for Susan's prompt at Midweek Motif: the Song of a Single Word

  1. I fall under the spell of this poem, especially the slips and slides which bring everything else closer. Sinking thus makes me think of Excalibur. Hah! And I say stay, stay and stroll there for many a day.

  5. Sherry this is so beautiful. Who best to write this song than someone who loves the ocean so much. But no, you will not sink - the ocean will float you.

  6. i listened to the song of the ocean just a week ago. it seems so far away. i tied my toes into the sand and let the waves lift me and let me fall as they may.

nice use of the s sound in this as well. as it shushes us.

  7. I absolutely loved this clever poem...praising the sea...such imagination and your words conjured up my senses of when I visit the sea....slipping in the sand and salty water.

  15. and when i was residing in the oceans beach head, the 's' i would be most cognizant of was...'shhh'...listen to it's voice for it has traveled the world and beyond. it carries the voice of the Universes spirits...'shhh', listen !

your voice in this piece, mi amiga, inspired this memory. gracias !
