The Down-Side of Being a Tree

The trouble with being a tree
in a grove of leaners,
is the weight of one's branches
always upright, ready for supporting.
They get tired, never being lowered,
branches never put down for a nice restorative nap.
Those who need its steady strong solidity
seem unaware that trees get tired, too,
find it difficult to continue all the
Bearing Up of branches.
This is the down-side
of being a tree
in its declining years.
