American Sentences from Canada




Midnight crescent moon on navy sky, clouds scudding past, battleship gray.

 Afghan vets' Antarctic trek : wounded warriors walking to inspire.

 Call to Tofino: question asked, hopes suspended, dreams arising.

 Oldster falls over fat golden dog:  plethora of quaking fat rolls.

 Pondering the imponderables, one must  surrender self to trust.
at dVerse, the challenge (and challenge it is!) is to write American sentences, a form created by Ginsberg, each line having seventeen syllables. My "lines" dont fit all in one line on my template - but each one is seventeen syllables:)

    I smiled (perhaps I shouldn't) at the oldster falling over the fat golden dog...I hope the oldster didn't get hurt, but the image amused me.

    Ah, I hope the call to Tofino comes to reality, Sherry! And soon, very soon!

    These are like aphorisms... the wounded warriors were my favorite image, though I'm putting out a lot of energy for Tofino. And that last one! I'm going off now to "surrender self to trust." (A short nap before prayer meeting.)

    I like what you did with these. Are we poetic neighbors, me in Tacoma, WA, and you up there on Vancouver Island? how cool is that? My fave, also, is the Afghan Vets line.

    Last I checked, Canada is part of North America, so no problem there. My favorites are the first and last verses. :)
