Light a Candle

When times are darkest,
get the matches out.
Light a candle.
Light the room,
and drive the shadows out.

Hold on to hope.
Scare away the fears.
Hang tight through
the midnight hours
till daylight reappears.

  1. I like it Sherry.

What do you think about using "reappears"?

  2. If it were not for meditation and prayer time in my candlelit corner, I would have no sanity at all. This was perfect, and I loved how the Dalai Lama was watching over your poem from the right margin! Amy

  3. Sherry, one can always see hope when one looks at a candle, I think. Even in the darkest hours, there is a glimmer of light.

    (And I like Tug's suggestion.)
