Nothing Changes

[icebergs melting, from google]

Forest fires
melt the icebergs
that flood the prairies,
cities
under water,
people
mopping up
the mess ~
An Inconvenient Truth
occurring
on the
daily news.

Global warming,
happening
right now,
tundra melting,
floods and fires,
tornadoes
and tropical storms,
earthquakes
and tsunamis,
people trying
fruitlessly,
to staunch
the flow.

The canary
has long since
toppled off
its perch
and died,
from the exhaustion
of trying to
warn us.

And, still,
nothing changes.

  1. And yet everything changes, all the time. We've just too successful for our own good. If we make it impossible to live, the planet will go on. We're not so smart after all.....

  2. What a paradox. Nothing stays the same when nothing changes. I like the picture too.

  3. You know how I feel about climate change and the naysayers, who seem to think driving Hummers is a God-given right...

The canary is the cage is an excellent metaphor. If anyone bothered to look, it toppled years ago... KEEP SAYING THIS and I will, too.

And now a word from our sponsor, depression! Amy
