Peace Within

In the middle
of
worldly warfare,
in the middle
of
created and imagined
chaos,
in the middle
of
other peoples'
problems,
in the middle
of
temporary strife,
in the middle
of
all the noise,
all the jangle,
all the dis-ease,
all the
it's-got-to-get-better,
in the middle
of
it all:
Deep breath.
Breathe.
Just breathe.

In the middle
of
it all:
Peace within.

  1. Yes, peace is like the eye of a storm. Despite the chaos around us, we are peaceful on the inside. When we breathe, we feel the peace within. This has helped me so many times. So i could relate to your poem.
I also like the construction of the lines and the flow.
    Wonderful poem.

  6. I'll have to try some deep breathing, Sherry. I'm not the most relaxed of people.

  8. You speak of the space in between, my favorite place. A good place to investigate.....maybe a book?

  9. Aahhh...a much needed reminder to stop in the midst of madness and listen to our wise souls for a moment. Peace and love are in us all...we need only set them free...:)

  10. Wonderful.

It's easy to let the chaos outside make you crazy, and it's good to stop, pause, and like your poem says... breathe.

Like the form too, it's visually like a waterfall the way your words also tumble like a waterfall til you reach the calm bottom. :)

  11. You remind me of one of my favorite songs: Anna Nalick's "Just Breathe." Sometimes we all need a reminder.
