May there be peace.......

I am flying my peace globe this morning, along with the other bloggers for peace (mimilenox.com) remembering September 11, 2001, remembering all the other wars and uprisings in all the other countries around the world, in the past and happening right now.

Longing for the fractious inharmoniousness to stop. Everywhere.

Praying that leaders will reach for peace more fervently than power, so that all people may live in whatever corner of the planet they are, in the security and freedom of knowing they can move through their days with ease and certainty.

So that through every hamlet, every county, every farmland, every forest glen, every town and village and tumultuous city, the sounds will be of birdsong and happy industry.

That people will go about their day glancing at the sky to look for weather, not attack.

That those displaced in refugee camps can return home.

That soldiers can return home safe to their loved ones.

That church bells can ring out in joy and pastors offer words of hope and peace and brotherhood to their congregations.

That those who are hungry be fed.

That those who are ill can be cared for.

That those who are dying can die in dignity, surrounded by love, and not warfare and terror.

May peaceful hearts everywhere focus mind and heart on peace, so the numbers of those calling for peace grows larger than those calling for discord and separateness.

May there never be another September 11 again like that one, anywhere in the world.

  2. Thanks, Mimi, I only now caught the typo I had in the date above, argh! I've been writing about and praying for peace my whole life, just about. Was so happy to hook up with your site and join with others in such a fine movement.

  3. hi sherry, i join you in your prayer. if only more people spread love instead of hatred... the problem is that in this chaotic world of ours, the peace-loving people are the ones who get caught in the crossfire.

thanks for your sweet comment on my blog. james met his untimely end precisely because there are people who chose (and continue to choose) violence to solve their problems. along the way, they hurt innocent people and justify it by calling them "collateral damage."

may there be peace on earth! God bless!

  4. A heartfelt prayer for peace, Sherry...that was beautifully put. It was a hard day yesterday reliving the horror of those attacks. Posts like yours remind me that the world is full of people who want to spread only love...and that achieving peace in our lifetime is possible when enough of us fight for us. Thank you for easing the pain a little...
